Towards Equal Foundation is pleased to announce a three year grant in support of Rural Aid Services, an organisation based in Happy Valley, Tuibong, Churachandpur in Manipur. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to empower conflict affected rural communities and to create pathways for sustainable livelihood growth.
Rural Aid Services has long worked at the grassroots level with vulnerable families in the Churachandpur region. The new initiative titled Strengthening Rural Economy through Green and Resilient Livelihoods will focus on restoring and enhancing the long term development of sustainable agriculture in buffer zone villages. Many households in these areas face deep social and economic challenges, and the project is designed to support both poor and very poor families in rebuilding their income generating capacity.
The initiative will provide tools, training, and essential resources that will allow affected families to re establish agricultural activities. By supporting community based farming practices and encouraging innovative and climate resilient methods, the project aims to strengthen food security and create stable economic opportunities. Fruit tree plantation will be a major component because these crops hold high nutritional value, strong local demand, and significant market potential in the district. The program also encourages the adoption of sustainable inputs and the development of resilient rural infrastructure, which together contribute to a future that is better able to withstand environmental and economic shocks.
Over time, the project seeks to transform crisis affected communities into self reliant and sustainable rural economies. It will diversify income sources, create new employment avenues, and ensure that vulnerable groups receive focused support. By empowering families to remain rooted in their land and livelihoods, the program hopes to reduce distress migration and encourage communities to choose their own path to prosperity.
Throughout the three year period, TEF aims to work closely with Rural Aid Services to advance the shared goals of livelihood generation and community led self sustenance under the guiding structure of local self help groups. The Foundation believes that strengthening rural economies begins with empowering people, building resilience, and nurturing the potential of communities that have withstood immense adversity.
