The not-for-profit 832 bed Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital planned at the Tata IISc Medical School caters to the clinical training and clinical research of the postgraduate students in the academic programme. While providing quality care to the society at large, the hospital aims to also provide advanced facilities for diagnostics, treatment and research.
The Indian Institute of Science, on August 24 2023, entered into an MOU with Mr Mahendran Balachandran and Mrs Sangeeta Mahendran, to set up the Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology Wing, as part of the Tata IISc Medical School and the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital.
The Mahendran Balachandran Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology Wing is to be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will enable postgraduate students to undergo world-class training. The setting up of this wing will not only spark innovation in the critical disciplines of immunology and rheumatology, but will also help the IISc Medical School train a new generation of physician-scientists.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr Mahendran Balachandran said: “With ever increasing prevalence of autoimmune disorders, the field of immunology needs better understanding. We hope this endeavor will bring much needed attention, resources and collaboration for breakthrough outcomes.”
